🏅🥈 Tatjana Smith brings home two medals at the 2024 Olympics!

Smith secured South Africa's first silver medal of the 2024 Olympics in the 200m breaststroke event last night. It was a tight finish, with Smith coming in strong and finishing 2nd to U.S. swimmer Kate Douglass. This achievement came just three days after her gold-winning performance in the 100m breaststroke, completing a memorable Olympics for Smith and her 'village' of people, who have supported her throughout this period.

Her coach, Rocco Meiring, who has coached Smith for just short of a decade, highlights what makes her a true champion: 'Tatjana has the ability – when she is not winning – to process the loss and take the lessons out of the defeat. She can quickly identify the mistakes and correct them,' Meiring told Olympics.com.

At the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Smith delivered an incredible performance, taking home gold in the 200m breaststroke and silver in the 100m breaststroke, despite the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Smith's achievements extended well beyond Tokyo, as she won double gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, with silver in the 100m breaststroke and gold in the 200m breaststroke.

Tatjana's grit, exceptional swimming technique, and talent have propelled her to the top of the sport. Her journey is a powerful lesson in resilience and focus, embodying the true South African spirit.

Congratulations, Tatjana, on your outstanding achievements. You have made South Africa proud! 🥇🥈
